about
OBiNRiN,
(pronounced, o-be-ri) is yoruba for
WOMAN and an affirmative power chant with the intention to encourage humans based all around the world, particularly those in search of rediscovering their ancestral roots and truths….to stay resilient, to let the past teach and to keep on with affirming a better nation where each individual can feel proud of their origin.
We do this by taking action... Today!
We all, can manifest the change we hope to see
The track is a love letter to the divine femininity of the AfriKan - British womb<mxn> ….. we acknowledge her pain of how it is hasn’t always been easy for her to fit in or be accepted by this society - Understanding this, we encourage her to turn this pain into glory!
We sing proudly in Yoruba, French, Attié & English showing love to our cultures, with the knowing that we can surpass any trail and that we are destined for only love & greatness.
This song is here for every rising young girl and boy who is feeling confused and conflicted by the clash of cultures, OBiNRiN is a positive and motivational reminder to be always be you and to let the sun, earth & moon guide your inner light.

Alagbara obinrin ti o gbọ, mo fẹ sọ nkan kan fun ọ
Gbo ori re so ke...ko wo orun
Gbo ori re so ke...ko wo orun
(Verse 1)
Confused
Looking for someone to tell her what to do
I see her looking for clues
Trapped in time that lies
About her ancestry
Spells flowin naturally
Society
can’t handle it
Eating her fruits, listening to badu
Ankara around her waist
head wrapped to seal her truth
Magik in her step, wilding her roots
No one wants to walk in her shoes
Could you?
(Chorus in Unison)
Alagbara obinrin ti o gbọ, mo fẹ sọ nkan kan fun ọ
Alagbara obinrin ti o gbọ, mo fẹ sọ nkan kan fun ọm
Gbo ori re so ke...ko wo orun
Gbo ori re so ke...ko wo orun
(Verse 2)
One day, we will all die
So here’s some cake for more life
You can’t preach water
And drink Western lies
Expect another to speak for your bloodline (That’s not mine)
So anyway I focus on the (trees)
Break bread with the (g’s)
My family always eat with me
Je ne peux pas le faire si je m’assois
(I can't get it if I am sitting down)
So I go get it, go get it, go get it
And come back for more
See the world is your core
So I go get it, go get it, go get it
And come back with rewards...
(Chorus in Unison)
Alagbara obinrin ti o gbọ, mo fẹ sọ nkan kan fun ọ
Alagbara obinrin ti o gbọ, mo fẹ sọ nkan kan fun ọ
Gbo ori re so ke...ko wo orun
Gbo ori re so ke...ko wo orun
(Outro in Unison)
Alagbara obinrin ti o gbọ, mo fẹ sọ nkan kan fun ọ
Alagbara obinrin ti o gbọ, mo fẹ sọ nkan kan fun ọ
Gbo ori re so ke...ko wo orun
Gbo ori re so ke...ko wo orun

Like so many others, this came like a bolt out of the blue and, even though it's well before payday, I had to have this astonishing album on vinyl to prove it exists. The feel of the tunes makes me feel like the Impressions do, Curtis Mayfield, the big spaces and instinctive horns and stuff drifting in and out. Great grooves and I can see lots of ghosts nodding along to this with big smiles on their faces. At last! Anthony Cottrell
